... around 2.30am this morning, I was awoken by 3 vans parked across the road and some men in flourescent yellow jackets opening a water valve and letting it gush down the pavement, for ages and ages. Till eventually after MUCH gushing they seemed to take some bottled samples, and then switch off the gush, pack up and go.
I found myself thinking, wouldn't it have been good if instead of standing around wasting tons of water, they could at least have collected SOME in buckets and WATERED THE SURROUNDING TREES. If only a FEW surrounding trees had been watered last night (especially in the lead up to a hot day, as today was predicted to be) that would be better than no trees at all.
Equally it's a shame I didn't think to take the initiative, get dressed, and go down there with a bucket too.
