This is shaggy polypore emerging from a huge, old ash tree in Abney Park Cemetery. It takes about a week to grow out from the tree and is now about 0.5m across. The fungi lives in the tree, eating the wood and fruits like this only once every three years. So if you want to see this amazing orange bracket be quick, you have a few weeks before it turns black and dries out.

Close up of young bracket on more accesible log, taken 3 years ago.
