Growing food on housing estate

Hi - I have started up a food growing project on my housing estate (Lordship North on Lordship Road). A group of us cleared an old drying area of rubbish and brambles (it took an age to get the council to take the green waste away though). I then applied for funding and bought 'dumpy' bags, topsoil, mulch and manure, which arrived last week. We are currently filling the bags. It's rather late in the year for planting, so we are covering the bags up until the spring -- and until we have sorted other issues like access to water (again, waiting for the council...), a greenhouse and a tool shed. We are also planning to make a raised bed for fruit trees, and put in some seating. I also hope to organise a workshop for the 16 (or more) plotholders, some of whom have no previous experience in growing veg. If anyone has any similar experience, I would love to hear from you.
